TRAVEL TIPS DURING CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK
World Health Organization has explained Coronavirus as a large family
of respiratory viruses that can cause diseases that can range from the common
cold to the MERS (Middle-East Respiratory Syndrome) and the SARS (Severe Acute
Respiratory Syndrome). This disease may cause illness in humans or animals.
WHO
has characterized Coronavirus as “a pandemic”.
Here’s a little background of Coronavirus
– It was originated in Wuhan, the capital of the province Hubei, which is under
strict quarantine as of now. The disease spread from China to Italy and then
was passed on to other countries resulting in the COVID-19 outbreak in 192
countries.
The second most affected country after
China is Italy, which is dealing with more than 59,000 cases and currently,
there is a nationwide lockdown around the globe.
Keeping
the current situation in mind, the World Health Organization has suggested
against the application of trade restrictions or Travel to Countries or in fact,
within the country as well.
Even
if you are required to travel during COVID-19 breakdown, you need to make
certain precautions for the betterment of yourself and others as well. The
following segment of the article will be divided into three parts – before
travel, during travel, and after travel.
BEFORE TRAVEL

You
must schedule an appointment with your health professional. Travel only if they
allow you to do so otherwise refrain from doing so.

You
should make sure that you have updated health insurance for the Country you’re Planning to Visit.

For
those who have to take medicines regularly or those who belong to vulnerable
groups should take enough amount of time to make sure that you’re ahead of your
trip.
·
You
must make sure to check and re-check the situation of the country/state/city
you are supposed to visit.
DURING TRAVEL
*These are the precautions you can not
afford to avoid.*

You
must wash your hands regularly – especially post coughing and sneezing; before
and after the handling of food and beverages.

Ensure
to avoid touching your own eyes, mouth, and nose.
·
Make
sure to cover your nose and mouth while sneezing or coughing.
·
For
those who present the symptoms of respiratory disease, i.e. fever, cold, cough,
breathing difficulties you must avoid contact with them.
·
You
must ensure to avoid contact with people if you have any of the symptoms of the
disease.
·
It
is generally not recommended to use face masks. You should use masks only if
you counter with any of the symptoms.
·
In
case you use facemasks, ensure that you continue to use all the prescribed
precautions to reduce the risk of the transmission of COVID-19.
AFTER TRAVEL
·
Even
though you don’t present any symptoms, you must monitor your health for 14 days
post your travel.
·
If
you present any symptoms such as fever or other respiratory issues (coughing,
breathing difficulties) Stay at Home and contact your health professional and do
mention your recent travel history.
It is suggested to not to travel for a
few months for your safety and others. Travel only if it is necessary otherwise
stay indoors and be safe.
